Delta Fair

The Delta Agricultural Society is the proud sponsor of the annual Delta Fair: a Leeds County tradition since 1830. Now one of Ontario’s oldest continuously operating agricultural fairs, it attracts an average of 10,000 visitors to the village during the four days of celebrating in late July. Complete with agricultural and homecraft competitions/displays, children’s activities, evening grandstand entertainment, concessions, tractor and truck pulls, concessions and midway rides/games provided by World’s Finest Shows, there is something for everyone at the fair.

Delta Harvest Festival

Come out to the Annual Delta Harvest Festival. Held on the last Saturday in September, organizations have organized a full day of activities throughout the village including a car show, craft sale and an evening dance at the Fair Grounds to blacksmithing demonstrations, milling demonstrations and a bread baking contest at the Old Stone Mill.

Delta Maple Syrup Festival

As soon as the sap starts to run, the community of Delta begins preparing for the Delta Maple Syrup Festival. Established in 1967 as a Centennial Project, the festival promises to offer entertainment, refreshments, activities and of course, maple syrup and pancakes to the thousands of people who opt to visit the Village of Delta during the third weekend in April. In addition to the pancake breakfast, children’s activities, maple produce sales, a ball hockey tournament, a book sale, blacksmithing demonstrations, milling demonstrations and an evening dance are organized for the benefit of all.

Old Stone Mill

The Old Stone Mill is a National Historic Site showcasing milling technology and 1800s industrial heritage. The mill was built in 1810 and is one of the finest examples of early industrial architecture in the region. It features interpretive displays, an operating waterwheel, millstones, bolter, grain elevators, and artifacts illustrating the grist milling process through the years. You can tour the mill yourself or enjoy a free guided tour. During the summer, heritage wheat is ground into flour using the 200-year-old millstones; the stone ground flour is available in the gift shop which also offers interesting mementos of your visit.

For additional information, contact the Delta Mill Society.

Township of Rideau Lakes

Forged in the crucible of the great ice storm of 1998, the  Township of Rideau Lakes came into being on January 1, 1998, as an amalgamation of the former Townships of Bastard and South Burgess, North Crosby, South Crosby, South Elmsley and the Village of Newboro. Rideau Lakes lies in the Northwest corner of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and is geographically the largest municipality in the County.

Rideau Lakes’ strength and its opportunities for the future rest in the diversity of its population, economic activity, and geography. Farming, tourism, and service industries form the backbone of the local economy.
